 The Ghan Train provides a direct rail link between Adelaide in the south of Australia and Darwin in top end of Australia. The total distance between the two cities is 2979 kilometers and the journey takes three days and two nights. The extended 1,420 klm rail track from Alice Springs to Darwin was completed in 2004. The train pulls 43 carriages ( 1 kilometer in length) making the Ghan with two locomotives the longest passenger train in Australia
